Overview
The New York Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Commission is tasked with enhancing the community's economic and social well-being and addressing the health and educational needs critical to AAPI communities throughout the state. Its mandate includes making policy recommendations, coordinating programs, implementing public education campaigns, and raising awareness among AAPI individuals about state and local resources. Governor Hochul signed Chapter 43 of the Laws of 2024 on February 7, 2024, establishing the Commission within state law at Section 94-d of the Executive Law. The Commission achieved it quorum and full membership on September 19, 2024.
