Requirements
- Submit a completed application and the required fee to the Department of State.
- Proof of Fingerprint completion
- Proof of "all risk insurance coverage" in the minimum amount of $10 million; additional amounts to cover the value of coins consigned to such coin processor for counting
- Maintain comprehensive general liability insurance coverage for death, personal injury and property damage in the minimum amount of $500,000 per occurrence and $1 million in the aggregate.
Fees
There are fees associated with a Coin Processor license. You may pay these fees by check or money order made payable to the Department of State or by MasterCard or Visa using a credit card authorization form. DO NOT SEND CASH. Application fees are nonrefundable. A $20 fee will be charged for any check returned by your bank.

- $88.50 - Fingerprinting Fee (payable to IDEMIA)
- $25 - Change of Personal Name and/or Address (No fee is required if a name change is the result of a change in marital status)
- $25 - Duplicate License/Registration Request

FAQs
Who is exempt from licensure?
Exclusions from General Business Law, Article 27a: Explicitly excluded from licensure are entities regulated by the Banking Law, food processing establishments which provide coin counting machines for customers, and armored car carriers.
