Case Information: 14-E-0318 and 14-G-031
Central Hudson Gas & Electric Co. (“Central Hudson”), headquartered in Poughkeepsie, NY, serves approximately 300,000 electric customers and 78,000 natural gas customers in New York State’s Mid-Hudson Valley. Central Hudson sought 1-year electric and gas delivery revenue requirement increases totaling $46.0 million ($40.1 million for electric and $ 5.9 million for gas).
UIU Advocacy
UIU submitted testimony on low income, rate design and other consumer related issues. The UIU participated in settlement negotiation which ultimately led to a settlement agreement.
Result
The Commission adopted a three year electric and gas rate plan for Central Hudson, with new rates beginning July 1, 2015. In this case, one-time customer credits were used to significantly lower the overall impact on customers. Electric rates (including customer credits) will increase $2.3 million, $17 million, and $24.1 million in Rate Years 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Gas rates (including customer credits) will decrease by $0.7 million in Rate Year 1 and increase by $5.5 million and $6.1 million in Rate Year 2 and 3. The implementation of Reforming the Energy Vision Demonstration Projects were also part of this agreement.
