Identity Theft And Scam Prevention The Division of Consumer Protection operates the State's Identity Theft Prevention and Mitigation Program to educate and assist New Yorkers to reduce the risk of identity theft and help prevent this crime. Content aligns with the latest schemes thieves use to commit identity theft, fraud, and other marketplace scams.
Navigating Housing Scams
Whether New Yorkers are renting, buying a first home, protecting their homes, planning a home improvement project, or looking for a moving or storage company, the Division of Consumer Protection provides tips to navigate scams and prevent New Yorkers from falling victim to a scam. DCP provides a series of five presentations that offers practical tips for navigating housing scams.

The Division of Consumer Protection’s provides consumer safety education prevention and awareness education. As the state designee to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the goal is to ensure a fair and safe consumer marketplace.

The Division of Consumer Protection offers financial workshops that help New Yorkers kickstart their financial education with content that covers the basics about credit and smart credit use. These workshops offer essential knowledge for anyone looking to take control of their financial future.
