Electronic Fingerprinting

All applicants must submit electronic fingerprints. Rolled fingerprints are not acceptable.

The following applicants have access to electronic fingerprinting through IdentoGO by IDEMIA:

  • Security Guards
  • Armored Car Carriers
  • Armored Car Guards
  • Private Investisgators
  • Watch Guard or Patrol Agencies
  • Bail Enforcement Agents
  • Coin Processors
  • Security or Fire Alarm Installers
  • Document Destruction Contractors

 

All applicants must submit electronic fingerprints. Rolled fingerprints are not acceptable. You MUST visit a site in New York to complete the fingerprinting process. You should NOT schedule an appointment at a site outside of New York State.

 

Instructions for Electronic Fingerprinting:

1. Schedule an appointment with IdentoGO by IDEMIA:

To schedule an appointment at a location near you, visit their website at www.identogo.com and select 'NY' or call 1-877-472-6915. For scheduling purposes, you must utilize the required or Service Code listed below: Failure to use the correct license type or Service Code may result in the need to be reprinted.* Please note, the IdentoGo website has been revised to present a privacy policy statement and provide applicants with information related to DCJS and if applicable FBI records review challenge processes. Employers making appointments on behalf of an applicant must provide the applicant with this information.

2. Bring one of the below listed forms of identification to your appointment:
Upon completion of the fingerprinting process, you will be given 2 copies of your receipt.

One payment for all relevant prints must be made at this time in the form of: check, money order or credit card payable to IDEMIA.

 

Electronic Fingerprinting Fees:
(Vendor Fee is subject to change in January and July of each year.)

  • Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fee: $75.00
  • FBI fee: $13.25 (Only Security Guard License applicants must pay the FBI fee.)
  • Fingerprint Vendor fee: $14.25

 

3. Mail your license application and application fee to NYS Department of State:
Include your completed license application, the appropriate fees as listed on the application, and one copy of the receipt from IdentoGO by IDEMIA as proof of fingerprinting. Mail to the address listed in the application. 
Make checks or money orders payable to NYS Department of State.
The second copy of the fingerprinting receipt should be retained by your employer.

 

Please Note: Fingerprint receipts are valid for 5 months from the date of the fingerprinting. Please submit original application within 5 months from the date of fingerprinting. Failure to submit your application within this time period will require you to complete the fingerprint process again.
