Overview

Under a policy of endorsement, a state with higher educational requirements can accept licensees from a state with lesser standards by mandating experience to make up for the education deficiencies.

Below is the list of cosmetology, esthetician, nail specialty, and natural hair styling "endorsement" states and the requirements needed to obtain a NYS license.

The applicant must include with their application an official letter of good standing (certification), dated within six months, from the Appearance Enhancement Board where the applicant is currently licensed.
