Albany: This office is open for all services.

Parking
Limited on street metered parking is available for 1 Commerce Plaza in Albany. The Office of General Services has various parking lots throughout downtown Albany which have limited visitor parking. To find out more information about the 
OGS lots, please visit their website.  
 

New York City: This office is open for all services with the exception of walk-in apostille processing. Apostilles will not be processed without a previously scheduled priority appointment.

Apostille or Certificate of Authentication

  • Customers are allowed to drop off Apostille requests at our Albany and New York City locations only. Drop off requests will not be treated as a priority and will be processed according to receipt date. Once completed, the documents will be returned in the return enveloped provided by the customer or by first class mail. Please note that you are encouraged to pay by check or money order for New York City drop off requests. New York City drop off requests being paid by credit card will be forwarded to our Albany location for processing.

* Please note: Due to the large volume of mail in requests, please allow for additional processing time before checking on the status of your Apostille or Certificate of Authentication request.

**Individuals who have a priority request based on travel plans within two weeks may schedule an appointment to have their documents completed at our Albany or New York City customer service office. Please send an email with this priority request to 
[email protected].  Please provide copies of the certified documents that need to be authenticated along with your travel itinerary and include ‘Apostille Priority’ in the subject line of email.  You will be contacted with date and time of appointment. You will need to bring copies of travel documents with you.

  • When arriving for your appointment, only the customer will be allowed in the office unless another person is needed to complete the transaction, for example, a parent/guardian of a minor or an interpreter. All others will be required to wait outside of the office.

License Applications and Renewals

Customers seeking to file a license application or renew their license are encouraged to do so online. To renew your license, please visit the Licensing Renewal webpage and find your applicable license. To submit a first time application, please visit the Licensing Services webpage and select the specific license you are interested in.

Administrative Hearings

Administrative hearings are taking place in New York City, Buffalo and Albany at specific appointment times only and with strict safety protocols. In response to COVID-19, many administrative hearings are being conducted virtually.
