Training Schedule

Overview

The New York Department of State’s Local Government training (LGT) staff teach governmental administration, land use planning, regulation and procedure, and community development to local officials at regional and county workshops statewide.

LGT staff also provide technical assistance to members of planning boards, zoning boards of appeals, local governing boards, and municipal staff. Assistance includes technical information, explanations, tips, and examples of successful approaches to land use and local regulation.

Training Opportunities

Planning board and zoning board of appeals members are required to obtain four hours of training every year. All in-person and online interactive training courses offered by LGT count toward this requirement
