Land use planning and local governance training and technical assistance for local government officials.

Training Schedule

Overview

The New York Department of State’s Local Government training (LGT) staff teach land use planning and regulation, local governance and procedures to local officials at regional and county workshops statewide.

LGT staff also provide technical assistance to members of planning boards, zoning boards of appeals, local governing boards, and municipal staff. Assistance includes technical information, explanations, tips, and examples of successful approaches to land use and local regulation.

Programs

Training Opportunities

Planning board and zoning board of appeals members, are required to obtain four hours of training every year. All in-person and online interactive training courses offered by LGT count toward this requirement.
