STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK SECRETARY OF STATE ROSSANA ROSADO ON DACA

STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK SECRETARY OF STATE ROSSANA ROSADO ON DACA

“I am deeply disappointed by the decision rendered by Judge Hanen of the United States District Court in Houston, Texas, which temporarily prohibits the approval of new DACA applications. New York State will continue to stand with Dreamers everywhere, recalling the words of Emma Lazarus emblazed upon our Lady in the Harbor, and we will support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. While the battle over DACA continues to unfold in our court system, the Federal Government must pass progressive immigration reform now. The vicious cycle of uncertainty must end, and justice for Dreamers must be realized. Immigrants and Dreamers fought for all of us as frontline workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in New York State and around the country. They risked their lives to save lives. Now, more than ever, it is time to deliver on the promise of a welcoming and just America for all.”
