The Office for New Americans (ONA) works to assist newcomers to New York State to fully participate in the State's civic and economic life. ONA is committed to strengthening New York State’s welcoming environment for New Americans and facilitating their success.
Office for New Americans established a network of 27 neighborhood-based Opportunity Centers, which teach English for speakers of other languages; increase the number of naturalized citizens; help start or grow a business; and, reduce the exploitation of New Americans. ONA also provides legal representation through the Liberty Defense Project and ONA Legal Counsels, and connects New Americans to immigrant service providers through the New Americans Hotline.
