Liberty Defense Project
The New York State Office for New Americans was created by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in 2013 to welcome immigrants and to help them in achieving their American Dream.
The Office and its network of providers assist New Americans in navigating the naturalization process, starting and growing businesses, learning English, and becoming part of New York’s diverse cultural fabric.
ONA also administers Governor Cuomo’s Liberty Defense Project, the nation’s first state-led initiative to assist immigrants - regardless of status - in obtaining free access to legal services.
